Audrey Tautou
Audrey Tautou, the oldest of four children, was born on 8 August 1976 in Beaumont Puy-de Domme. From a very young age, both her dental doctor parents as well as her teacher mom supported her love of theater and drama. The passion for theater was the one which trumped her original desire to become a primatologist. As a young woman rising to the heights of fame was quick and accompanied by initial success. The beginning of her career came in 1999 when she started acting professionally. In the years following her studies, Tautou took part in the French talent scouting television programme Jeunes Premiers. Though she was a student at the Institut Catholique de Paris and attended church in her youth Tautou is now averse to the Catholic tradition, saying she's not Catholic. Alongside her acting career, Tautou took up modeling and was the model of L'Oreal Mont Blanc as well as Chanel. She also has a serious interest in photography and recently produced an exhibition of her work for the Arles Festival, titled Superficial. In her photographs, she is mainly focused on celebrities and the spotlight. The camera's focus is at journalists, who sat and watched her as she rose to stardom in Amelie. Audrey Tautou's worldwide success and fame soared after her appearance in the film as Amelie Poulain's leading woman in Le Fabuleux d'Amelie Poulain. Amelie gained international attention for its box office success. The film was also recognized at awards ceremonies across the world. It is the top-grossing French film made in America. Later, in the same year, she was a part of British dramas, including Stephen Knight's Dirty Pretty Things as well as Jean-Pierre Jeunet Un long Sunday de Faancailles. Then Tautou moved to Hollywood to work in Hollywood, where Ron Howard directed the Dan Brown bestseller The Da Vinci Code.
