Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American actor and singer. She started her Broadway career in musicals, including Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. The Tony Award was given to her for the role of Essie Carmichael in You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh has worked on projects with award-winning director, actors and producers throughout the course of her career. Ashford can be seen next in the role of Kumail Nanjiani, in Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive Welcome to Chippendales. It will premiere on 22nd November. Ashford is currently in production for Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust which stars Sarah Paulson and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. The film will be released in the form of an Hulu Original on Disney DTC. Ashford will return to Broadway in March 2023, where he will star alongside Josh Groban opposite Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production takes place located at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), the same duo who created Hamilton, will direct the show. Ashford has most recently played Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment that is based upon the national crisis that swept up Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters in the country's first impeachment hearings in over one century. Her two-season stint on the CBS show B Positive was her first major role. It was created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the legendary Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not familiar with Broadway has won two Tony Drama Desk Awards as well as Outer Critics Circle Awards in her character as Essie. Sunday in the Park with George Wicked legally blonde and the character that was originally played by Lauren in Kinky Boots were among her other Broadway performances. Ashford was raised and born in Denver and currently splits her time between Los Angeles, and New York.
